It looks as though we're getting our new Cabela's by fall of 2006. I'm not a hunter, fisher, or outdoorsman by any means (except when it comes to playing with my handgun at a certified range), but I am not sure I am cool with forking over $4 million plus for a retailer to come to our county. I really hope for our sake that the $4 million is repaid in the form of sales taxes and money spent at other establishments in our area by Cabela's shoppers. I'm not a big fan of handouts to corporations to lure them to our town - but if they keep their word and hire 400+ employees, I'm fine with it.
I will, however, be sure to shop there if they include an indoor gun range.
I decided to start blogging my fantasy football experiences again. One article so far… hopefully I can keep it up.

Uncle Fuzz's Fantasy Football Advice for the Day: Never sit your studs.
This is WAY out of hand. But… um… nice?
The video makers known for filming women flashing their breasts are exposing a softer side in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
I hate to be critical of our president, but Mr. Bush was about eighteen days too late with the speech he delivered tonight. Don't get me wrong, it was a great speech. However, it would have served a better purpose had he said it on August 29th. Now it seemed as though he was only doing it to save face.
I do have to say, the part of the president's speech which compared rebuilding from Hurricane Katrina to the rebuilding efforts of the Chicago Fire and the San Francisco Earthquake were quite moving. Again, eighteen days too late.
This is AWESOME! Check it out:

Approximately 236682 hours ago, my mom gave birth to a baby boy. Thanks, Mom. Sorry my head was so big.
Why do we still need to put the word “unleaded” on fuel pumps around the nation? Aren't we to the point in our society where “leaded” gasoline is the minority? Shouldn't we just put “regular” on the pumps with unleaded gasoline and “leaded” on the extremely rare pump with leaded gasoline? After all, there are seven letters in the word “regular” and eight letters in the word “unleaded.” The amount of money oil companies could save by skipping the extra letter could save them billions in signage alone, lowering your gas bill by hundreds of dollars a year. Couple that with the new inch of space left available for advertising, and we could be looking at thousands of dollars in gas savings per year. Here's another plus… there would be less demand for ink, thus lowering the price of your computer inkjet cartridges by $20 a pop. We're looking at a savings of over $1,040 - PER DRIVER, PER YEAR! (*figure based on 2 inkjet cartridges per driver per year.)
Either that or our legislature could just cut the gas tax in half for a few months.
I assume, sadly, that the former would be more likely to occur than any notion of our legislature cutting ANY tax EVER.
While on vacation, I learned some sad news. My chapter, Lambda Iota, of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity was suspended due to alcohol violations (among other things.) The chapter has been a respected, well-known chapter for 40+ years. Now, my alumni brothers are forced to remove our letters from the house and move valuable fraternal relics to storage, thanks to the short-sighted decisions of a few. For the next 2 years, our house will be rented out to non-brothers. It is sickening to say the least.
Blame cannot be placed soley on any individual in particular. This situation is very hard for me and the rest of the alumni, and it is hard not to be pissed at the active chapter as a whole. There were numerous chances to recitfy the problems and accept the punishments handed down to them. Unfortunately, getting pissed up on Busch Light was chosen over tradition and the respect of the 900+ alumni brothers.
While I would normally keep personal business personal, I think there are many lessons to be learned from our Fraternity's situation. The decisions you make today don't always just affect you. Hopefully those who made the wasteful decisions, and those who hear about it, will see what happens if you don't think before you act, and grow from this.
Alcohol isn't everything, but it can ruin everything if you let it.
Today, I head back to school. Another semester of being a daddy, working 40+ work weeks, studying my ass off in school, and entertaining you all on the radio and this website.
My goal this semester is to still post at least one article a day on FuzzMartin.com. So check back often.
Wish me luck.
UPDATE: I put “one article a week” but I meant “day.” This is going to be a long semester. Ugh!
Though I hate paying $3.29/gal. for gas - there is one good thing that will come of this: Less kids on the road. Maybe the lack of adolescent drivers will result in lower insurance premiums, thus making up for the increase in gas prices……
….. Righhhhhht.
