Hilarity

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008 by Fuzz

From an actual conversation:

Person 1: “Your son is funny… I think he has a crush on Zoey.”

Person 2: “That’s just because she puts out.”

Hahahahahaha!

(for those of you not up on your teen gossip… “Zoey” is Jamie Lynn Spears… Brittney’s pregnant little sister)

Coldplay: Violet Hill

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008 by Claude

Viva La Viva - ColdplayColdplay released their newest single, Violet Hill, for free on their website (coldplay.com) yesterday.
The track is ok and I am sure the free download was inspired by Radiohead who allowed anyone to download the album and pay whatever price they wanted for it (or not pay for it at all).

Of course, Coldplay is still signed to a recording label (Radiohead isn’t), so Coldplay’s free download is a marketing gimmick by the record company and Radiohead’s free download can be attributed to their appreciation of their art more than their paycheck from record sales.

I was checking out Claude’s Facebook page and then I got the sudden urge to listen to “Moment of Clarity,” by Jay-Z — and then I found this great version from DangerMouse.

Holy Effing Ripoff

Monday, April 28th, 2008 by Fuzz

Tracy and I aren’t looking for cake-cutting services for our wedding. Our plan is to get married in Italy. As I sit here, though, looking for catering prices for a business project I am working on, I found that cake-cutting costs are an average of 75-cents per person through most companies. That’s not the price of a slice of cake - that’s how much per person they charge you to actually slice the fucking thing.

That’s pretty fucking ridiculous if you ask me. I know you didn’t - but it is.

Back to the paper now….

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Monday, April 28th, 2008 by Fuzz

This is that time of the year when I am inundated with work, school projects, and more work and school projects. :) I will be done with school two weeks from tomorrow! After that, it’s fun, sun, and taking my GMAT for my Master’s.

Now, back to a hot word processor. Later tonight I might tell you about the awesome trip to Chicago that Tracy and I took over the weekend. But right now… I’ve got isht to do. :D

Smiley Face Killers

Saturday, April 26th, 2008 by Claude

Remember all of those college men who seem to get drunk and fall into a large body of water and die every year or so?  KSTP in Minneapolis conducted an investigation and found that many of these “accidents” can be tied together and seem to be part of a much larger thrill-kill spree.

This is a very serious situation with effects felt in LaCrosse, Eau Claire, Minneapolis, St. Cloud and in 9 other states.

Take some time to visit the KSTP site, and watch the investigative report.  It is really worth the time to watch.

Late Nights with Jimmy Fallon

Friday, April 25th, 2008 by Fuzz

Jimmy Fallon is going to take over for Conan O’Brien when Conan takes over for Leno next year. I don’t think it will be all that bad. I would have rather seen Will Forte get the job - but I’m biased (read: he’s a Lambda Chi).

(Here’s Will in “I Drink Your Milkshake” - He’s the old man that says, “Please tell your wife to stop bothering me.”)

Rethink…X

Friday, April 25th, 2008 by Claude

With the whole “Go Green” mantra being dished out by every advertiser under the sun, I have seen a lot more tv and print spots with the tagline “Rethink, X”.  Where X is the service that the advertised brand provides.

Hey advertisers…listen up!

The only reason we thought a certain way about your service before was BECAUSE YOU TOLD US HOW TO THINK THAT WAY ABOUT IT!  WE (as the consumer) do not need to rethink anything, YOU are the ones that need to rethink your service and stop baraging the consuming public with messages of our shortcomings about having to re-program our worlds.

A Windex commercial recently said something to the effect of “we have developed a new formula that is safer for the environment and it cleans glass better than the original formula”.

NO WAY?  Amazing that you only found this more efficient (and eco-friendly) formula after the green-meanies got all over your ass for contributing to the polluting of our planet.  It would have been a tragedy to find a better product to give consumers until absolutley necessary.

I have a message for consumers.  Rethink the way advertising affects your purchases.

Business opportunity…

Friday, April 25th, 2008 by Claude

I just received this email and thought I would pass it on to anyone out there who is looking for a business opportunity. How lucky am I to receive such a great opportunity!?!

Dear
Good a thing to write you. I have a proposal for
you-this however is not mandatory nor will I in any
manner compel you to honour against your will.

I am Silvia James,20 years old and the only daughter of my late parents Mr.and Mrs.James. My father was a highly reputable busnness magnet-(a cocoa merchant)who operated in the capital of Ivory coast during his days.

It is sad to say that he passed away mysteriously in France during one of his business trips abroad year 6th.April 2005.Though his sudden death was linked or rather suspected to have been masterminded by an uncle of his who travelled with him at that time. But God knows the truth!

My mother died when I was just 4 years old,and since then my father took me so special. Before his death on April 6 2005 he called the secretary who accompanied him to the hospital and told him that he has the sum of Ten million, seven hundred thousand United State Dollars.(USD$10.700,000) left in one of the leading Finance company here in Abidjan Ivory coast West Africa.

He further told me that he deposited the money in my name,I am just 20 years old and a university undergraduate and really don’t know what to do.This is because I have suffered a lot of set backs as a result of incessant political crisis here in Ivory coast. The death of my father actually brought sorrow to my life.

Dear,I am in a sincere desire of your humble assistance in this regards.Your suggestions and ideas will be highly regarded.

Now permit me to ask these few questions:-
1. Can you honestly help me as your Sister?
2. Can I completely trust you?
3. What percentage of the total amount in question will
be good for you after the money is in your account?

Please,Consider this and get back to me as soon as possible.Through my
private email box:

Thank you so much.

My sincere regards,

Silvia James

The Night the Lights Went Out in Mayville

Friday, April 25th, 2008 by Fuzz

At 2:55 this morning, there was a loud thunderclap. Luckily it woke me up. All of the power was out. And not the blinking-lights, on-and-off type of outage - this was the full-blown, nothing-is-working type of outage.

When you’re in radio - especially doing a morning show - you often have nightmares about waking up late. Even on the weekends, sometimes, I freak out just a bit if I wake up when it’s already light outside.

Now I just hope that there’s not melted ice cream and popsicles all over my floor when I get home.

Kenny Chesney-Back Where I Come From

Thursday, April 24th, 2008 by Claude

Kenny Chesney LiveEven though I live in Western Wisconsin and work in the Twin Cities, I love to call Fuzz at work and request songs (that I will never get to hear played on the radio).

I have been requesting Kenny Chesney’s “Back Where I Come From” lately…only to be told by Fuzz that his station doesn’t play it because it was never released as a single. BUMMER! It’s a great tune.

So, Fuzz Martin Dot Com-ers, I give to you, Back Where I Come From…it’s a great song for all of us who grew up in small towns!

ps. Kenny Chesney is a member of the greatest Fraternity in the world, Lambda Chi Alpha.
