I called Fuzz this morning to talk about ridiculous gas prices, only to learn that Milwaukee’s prices are much higher than they are in the Twin Cities (where I work). Here is a quick suggestion to all of you who are complaining about high gas prices (I am complaining, too).
CAR POOL.
Remember when our mothers/fathers would car pool with people to work in the 80’s? Try it. My wife and I are fortunate enough to be able to commute to work together. Car pooling saves a LOT of money. But most won’t participate because most of us like the sanctity of our own private ride to work…or it’s just too much of a hassle to find someone to car pool with…or we might have to make sacrifices, like leaving 30 minutes earlier for work. But the next time someone starts in about the price of gas, ask what they are doing to curb that gouge, other than complaining about it.

I am in favor of Earth Day, cleaning up the planet, etc…but I also feel a lot of media and people’s ramblings about “going green” is a fad for them and disingenuous…
So, here is my 2008 take on how we should celebrate Earth Day, from The Colbert Report on Comedy Central.

Fuzz can’t stand having the top post on the site be from anyone other than him.
[UPDATE]: Post moved to the top by Fuzz… so that Claude feels better. He just posts faster than I do, so technically, he’s a winner. Haha!

I have determined that if you can alliterate, you can get a job writing commercials.
Professor in my marketing class to student: “you need to come up with a promotion for your marketing plan.”
Student: “You mean like Martini Mondays?”
Professor: “Oh, yeah, that’s really good.”
Me: “EEEEEK.”

After a relatively short hiatus, I am pleased to report that Lambda Chi Alpha has been accepted back at UW-Whitewater.
A lot of people have been instrumental in the return of Lambda Chi @ UWW, and the efforts are not done yet (nor will they be done, per se, once membership has been restored), but it is great to know that we are one step closer to returning a great fraternity to the campus of UW-Whitewater.
From UWWLCA.com (Claude and my other baby):
Everyone,
It is with great joy that I post this message saying that our return to Whitewater has been cleared on all levels.
The Dean of Students has signed off and given final approval of our return. Lambda Chi Alpha will begin the expansion process this fall, with a professional recruitment team coming to Whitewater for 3 weeks to build our Colony.
Keep tabs on this website to find out more about this important re-colonizing process.

From the New York Post… The US Government secretly bankrolled TV Panelists, billed as Military Analysts, to put a positive spin on the war in Iraq. Calling these highly respected and decorated Military leaders “Message Force Multipliers“. Or rather, “an influential but unacknowledged mouthpiece or propagandist for one’s interests”. At least Senioritis hasn’t affected all of my grades (actually, it hasn’t affected any).

The other day, I was in a restroom at a local restaurant. In walked some guy. He went into a stall and proceeded to, uhm, sit down… AND THEN HE DIALED HIS PHONE!!! WTF? He was working some business deal (that’s not a euphemism, he really was conducting business on his phone) while he was taking a crap. Being the upstanding citizen that I am, I didn’t know if it would be rude of me to flush the toilet or wait for him to finish his negotiations. But… after waiting for what seemed like an eternity, I coughed and flushed the toilet. Then I washed my hands for an extra long time just for effect. Seriously - what business, besides the obvious, is suitable for conducting in a public bathroom stall?
Sorry if that was too much information - but I had to get that off of my chest.

I didn’t think that I would ever repost something from the Huffington Post on my website - simply because they’re a bunch of asshats - but this list of top 10 celebrity supporters of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama is pretty interesting.
Hillary’s Top Celebrity Supporters:
- Ellen Degeneres
- Elton John
- Ted Danson & his wife, Mary Steenburgen
- Jack Nicholson
- Natalie Portman
- Perez Hilton
- America Ferrera
- Magic Johnson
- Barbara Streisand
- Eva Longoria Parker
Barack’s Top Celebrity Supporters:
- Oprah Winfrey
- Will.I.Am
- Maria Shriver
- Ben Affleck
- George Clooney
- Scarlett Johansson
- Samuel L. Jackson
- Chris Rock
- Robert De Niro
- Jennifer Aniston
Uhm… looks like Hillary is screwed.

It seems like it’s been so long since my little girl was this little.
I stumbled upon this while I was looking through some old posts.
roll.mov
Now she’s wearing size 12 (girls) shoes and telling me that the Jonas Brothers are cute. Eek.

I love how Fisher Price called they’re exercise bike/video game machine the “Smart Cycle.” I just think the name is ironic considering the design is not very “smart” at all.
- The Smart Cycle has no internal memory, so no matter how well your child does at one of the games, she or he will always have to start over from the beginning.
- My biggest gripe - the thing only takes D-cell batteries. There is no place to plug in an AC adapter. You just have to keep feeding the hungry beast batteries. It’s obnoxious.
It’s a really cool concept - but it’s not as “smart” as they’d have you believe. It’s really time for a redesign.

Yale is saying that the aborted baby art scandal was a hoax, but that didn’t stop the ever-humorous IowaHawk from putting together a great brochure (you really should just read that whole thing - it’s too funny)
With your Yale Art School degree, the sky’s the limit! Our graduates can be found pooping, peeing and bleeding in some of the finest art galleries and warehouse performance spaces from the East Village to Park Slope. But that’s only part of the opportunity story for Yale Art alumni. Here are some of the other exciting things you can do:
* Spur an intellectual conversation
about psysiognomic boundaries
* Start a ruckus
* Get attention
* Get a part time job at Kinkos for rent money
* Return home to live with your wealthy parents for a while
* Go back to graduate school at Yale Art
* Get a job teaching Art
* Get attention

My daughter and I stopped at Culver’s for lunch. They were out of hamburger buns! The manager went up to an elderly couple and told them, “unfortunately, we ran out of hamburger buns. But, we’d be more than willing to put your burger on sourdough.” The old woman snapped at the boy, “NO! We can’t have that!” The manager replied, “we have somebody running to Sentry now to pick up some more. We should have them back in about 10 minutes if you are wiling to wait.” She didn’t want to wait, so the manager gave them their money back.
I just want to know two things: 1) HOW do you run out of buns at 12:30, on a Friday, at a hamburger joint? 2) Is that a fire-able offense?

I read Tom’s 4-Block “Take A Letter, My Maria,” earlier this week, and I’ve had this song stuck in my head ever since.
R.B. Greaves - Take A Letter, Maria
It’s probably blasphemous, but I prefer the Doug Stone version of this song (but I couldn’t find it).

At 4:37 this morning, there was a 5.4-magnitude earthquake in southern Illinois. People have said they felt it all the way up to Menomonee Falls. I was in the car at the time and didn’t feel a thing. The epicenter was about 41 miles northwest of Evansville, IN.
Cool (provided nobody got hurt).

Unless by rain you mean my kickballs raining down into base-kick territory. We managed to get our kickball game in last night at Wick Field in Tosa. Mashuganas got beat 5 to 3, which sucks. We had the lead most of the game, got tied up in the 8th, and lost it in the tenth. OOS blew out his knee in the mess, too. But… I didn’t make a fool out of myself, so it’s aaaaaalllll good.
