I Wanna Rock!

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007 by Fuzz

This is just too friggin’ sweet! I am not a big “gamer.” In fact, I own an xbox, but the last time I played it was over 6 months ago, and that was only because I was trying to entertain Tracy’s son. I may, however, be in the market for Guitar Hero for Mac. If  you’ve never played Guitar Hero, you totally don’t know what you’ve been missing. Hell, my MOM and her boyfriend bought a Playstation II just so that they could play GH! Yeah… it’s that cool.

Remember that when Christmas comes, friends. ;)

New Apple Products

Thursday, September 6th, 2007 by Fuzz

Okay… I really wish that I had the extra funds to go blow on a product that I don’t really need right now, because I would TOTALLY be hooking myself up with a new iPod Touch. Yeah… it’s an iPhone without the phone part. Of course, Apple just dropped the price on the iPhone by TWO-HUNDRED DOLLARS, so you can buy the smaller iPhone (4gb) for the same price as an 8gb iPhone iPod Touch ($299).

Apple also released a new iPod Nano, which now plays video. They’re fugly. That’s all I’m saying.

Go check out the afore mentioned for yourself.

Here’s to the Crazy Ones

This is the new icon for Mac’s TextEdit program… the quote on it is incredible, so I thought I’d post it for all of you to see. crazy_ones.jpg

Adobe Lightroom

Monday, August 20th, 2007 by Fuzz

Over the weekend I decided to mess around with a trial version of Adobe Lightroom. It is an amazingly fast way to make quick edits and color corrections on RAW photo files, and then export them to jpeg for my stock photo adventures. I think that I am in love. Seriously… if Lightroom was a woman, I’d be at Kessler’s right now looking at diamonds. Large, flawless, color-corrected diamonds.

Uhhhmmmm….

Microsoft Surface

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 by Claude

What?!?  Can you believe I am posting something about a Microserf product?

While I am an Apple fanboy, I have to say that the Microsoft Surface just about made me “drop my pants and shoot a rocket” (to use a FuzzMartin.com quotable).  This things looks SO awesome…

The real questions are:
1) Where is Apple’s competative product (they probably have one, I just don’t know the name)
2) How much do they owe Pizza-Hut for stealing the concept of their sit-down Donkey Kong games?

iMacs

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 by Fuzz

me likeyThe new iMacs are out. They look great, they’re slimmer, and they’re faster, but they’re just not portable enough for me. Give me a Mac tablet, and then they might have me sold on something new. Until then, my trusty MacBook Pro and I are inseparable.

Phun with Photoshop

I could have just taken a rag and washed the birdshit off of this sign… but I cleansed it the new-fashioned way… with my handy dandy CS2.

Finally Back Up

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 by Fuzz

My website was down for a little bit this morning. The worst part about it was that when it was down, my ISP cached the site, so I couldn’t see the site once it was back up and running. I felt so naked.
…and not that good kinda naked.

Anyway… it’s fixed… but if you’re reading this, you know that already. :)

The Evolution of Apple

Apple Evolution

This is a pretty cool graphic showing the evolution of Apple Computer, iPod, Newton, iPhone, and other items.  Steve Jobs probably has one in his office!

Netflix

Sunday, June 17th, 2007 by Claude

I started using Netflix in 2003 after a friend gave me a gift certificate for my birthday.  At first, I ripped through dozens of movies a month (3 at a time)…eventually slowing down to almost watching less than 3 a month.

Now that I have a little one that likes to get up early and lay next to Daddy (and will sleep consistently) I have been using Netflix more regularly.  What has made my already positive view of Netflix even better is their “watch online” feature.  You can select from a large list of moderate to decent movies and view them online.  The great part is that if you stop in the middle for whatever reason, Netflix remembers where you were in the movie and when you come back to watch, it’s cued up right to that spot.

The only downer is that they currently only support PCs for watching movies.

Safari for Windows

Monday, June 11th, 2007 by Fuzz

safari.jpgHallelujah! Steve Jobs and the boys released a public beta of their Safari web browser (version 3) that now runs on Windows as well as Mac! I am a big fan of the browser, however, I have been pretty much been using Firefox as my default Mac browser lately because WordPress (my CMS of choice) didn’t have a WYSIWYG editor for Safari until the latest version was released.

Glossary (for you non-geeks)
WordPress: The software that I use to write my posts. It is actually what you are looking at right now.
CMS: Content Management System - WordPress is a form of a CMS.
WYSIWYG: “What You See Is What You Get” - kind of like typing with Microsoft Word. I can highlight words and make them bold or italicized without having to actually “code” it. Without a WYSIWYG system, I’d have to write everything in code, and while that’s not all that hard, it’s easier to just click a button and let the software do it for you.

Great Apple deal

Sunday, June 10th, 2007 by Claude

Yesterday, I purchased a new Apple computer.  Starting June 5, Apple is offering a promotion that says “College students can get a free iPod” with the purchase of a new computer.  If you really want an Apple computer and an iPod, don’t let this pass you by.  The offer allows for any staff/faculty/student in any education arena, K-12 and college…including school board members.  This very inclusive offer is great.  I bought a new computer (with the educational discount) and received $199 towards a new iPod (you don’t have to just buy the Nano, like it says, you can apply your money towards a video iPod, like I did).  And to sweeten the deal, for the next couple weeks, Apple is also running a promotion that gives you $100 rebate on select printers from their online store.   Jump on these deals while their are overlapping and available!

The Slowsky’s: Push It

Your DSL comment reminded me of these sweet Comcast commercials…and since Milwaukee is all Charter, I doubt you would mind me putting up this funny commercial (Comcast or no).

Pagar La Renta, Por Favor

Thursday, April 19th, 2007 by Fuzz

I remember my dad, a southside landlord, teaching me the above phrase when I was about 8 years old… and thought that it was a nice segue to show you Will Ferrell’s new video, “The Landlord.” The video is shown on Ferrell’s new “YouTube,” ripoff called, “FunnyOrDie.com.”

I put the video after the jump because, well, the staff at FoD hasn’t learned how to turn off the autostart in their player.

Rated PG-13 for a number of “B”-bombs.

Those wacky guys are Google are up to their annual tricks!

Peep this press release from the Google-gang

What will they come up with next year as their prank? Online editable spreadsheets, a non-refreshing map-viewer, or perhaps an online library of every book ever written? :D I guess we will have to wait and see!

Fuzz can now relax…

Thursday, March 29th, 2007 by Claude

Remeber when Fuzz thought he was going to have to take one for the team, because of Adobe buying Macromedia?

It looks like all of his nightmares have become soft, fluffy dreams.

Adobe has begun the pre-launch of Creative Suite 3. With the Web Premium edition, users can get Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash, and some other misc. (all Pro versions, btw) for $1,600. Of course, if you want different configurations, you can always buy Fireworks as a stand alone although I don’t know why would you want to buy an inferior product. And better yet, if you have a version already you can upgrade to these titles for about 80% less.

Politricking: 1984…2008?

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007 by Claude

If you haven’t seen this YouTube underground political ad, watch it now, because it will become THE focal point of grassroots politricking (copyright, Claude, 2007). I am posting this because of the impact it will have on politics in general, not focusing on the ad and people depicted. Expect all future focus on home-grown political advertising to refer to this remake of Apple’s 1984 ad. (Be sure to watch for the iPod on the hammer-thrower’s belt!) Someone spent some quality time on this.

…sorry if this wasn’t working, the original linked file has been flooded with hits.  Hopefully this one will stay up for a while.
