Fight Club
Saturday, April 12th, 2008 by ClaudeIt’s been almost 10 years since Fight Club came out. That makes me feel old. But it will always be in my Top 10 Favorite Movies. It’s great on so many levels.
For those of you you who didn’t know…Fight Club was first written as a book, by Chuck Palahniuk. The book is a lot grittier than the movie…just because some of the things he writes could not be said in the movie. Check out his other works like Choke, Diary and Lullabye. He’s a great writer. In the meantime, enjoy this Fight Club Trailer. .:in.tyler.we.trust:.

Go see Cloverfield
Sunday, January 20th, 2008 by Claude
We went to see Cloverfield today.  WOW!  A great movie.  While some may feel hesitant to see the movie because it is shot in first person (a la The Blair Witch Project), but the camera view REALLY makes the movie.  It puts you in the moment. I have seen the trailer with the Statue of Liberty head flying down the street at least 50 times, but while I watched it in the theater, my body tensed up and it really freaked me out.   J.J. Abrams is a genius.  I’m looking forward to many more fantastic movies from him (including the new Star Trek movie, which was previewed before Cloverfield). Cloverfield: 5/5 Stars!Â

American Gangster: The Movie - My Review
Friday, November 9th, 2007 by FuzzLast night Tracy and I went to see Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe in American Gangster. Denzel plays a drug kingpin/mob boss and Russel Crowe is a do-gooder cop who has a passion for the truth. Each of the men have separate storylines that, obviously, converge towards the end of the three hour film. Tracy and I thought the movie was great, albeit very long.
There are a few scenes that I found pretty disturbing in the movie, but there was one in particular that was hard to watch. It is only really a cut scene segueing between one storyline and the next. In it, you see a baby crying on a bed next to his mother who is dead from a drug overdose. The 5-10 second clip is really only unsettling because how real it is. Unfortunately, isht like that actually happens in real life.
There is plenty of action that is matched with a good plot, and the movie is apparently based on the true story of Frank Lucas. While I hope that the real Frank Lucas didn’t make any money off of the film (though I’m sure he did), I highly recommend you block off three hours of your life and go see American Gangster!
American Gangster: Jay-Z
Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 by Claude
Jay-Z saw an advance preview of the new Denzel Washington/Russell Crowe movie, American Gangster and was so inspired that he went to work on an album. Jay-Z’s American Gangster isn’t the official soundtrack, it’s an album inspired by the movie.
Can Jay-Z NOT make a great album? And in under 4 months?!?! This guy is wicked sick when it comes to putting records together. I had been a champion of Eminem as one of the best hip-hop artists alive, but after listening to American Gangster (as well as re-envigorating the Black Album, Kingdom Come and Blueprint), I have to hail Jay-Z as the greatest rapper alive.
Go out and get a copy of Jay-Z’s American Gangster. It is modern-day classic.

Firesale: USA
Thursday, September 27th, 2007 by ClaudeIf you saw Die Hard 4 (Live Free or Die Hard), you know what a fire sale is, in terms of a cyber attack.
CNN.com features a video of an AC360 story about the possibility of such an event. Saying that a prolonged power outtage to 1/3 of the US would be like having 50 hurricanes hit (based on the area affected, I would guess).
It’s great that everything has become so convenient and (inter)netted together that even destroying our infastructure is able to be done with the click of a mouse.
Free Netflix for 1 month
Friday, September 14th, 2007 by ClaudeI have been a Netflix subscriber for almost 4 years now (that long? wow). Occassionally they send me email promotions and coupon codes to share with people for 1 or 2 free weeks trials. This one is much better, 1 Month of Netflix for Free! So, I will share with all of you in FuzzMartin.com-land. Oh, I think this is only good for non-Netflix subscribers.

Superbad = Super BAD
Thursday, August 23rd, 2007 by FuzzI’m certain that the title of this post has been overused by critics all over the globe, but it is totally true to the letter. The movie Superbad, starring Jonah Hill (Knocked Up, Accepted, Click, 40-year-old Virgin) and Michael Cera (uhm… some tv shows), has it’s funny parts (you can actually refer to me as McLovin’ if you want to…), but unless you’re a 17-year-old boy who likes penis jokes, you’re probably going to be 85% disappointed with this movie. Seriously… skip it. Wait for the DVD if you need to.
