I decided that I don’t do enough for charity. So, as of today I will be donating all royalties from this file (available for purchase at iStockphoto.com) to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I will also match the royalties dollar for dollar (e.g., $1,000 in royalties = $2,000 donation).
Tracy bought me a Lensbaby for my graduation. A Lensbaby is a lens that you tilt and shift (squeeze) to focus only one part of the photo. I’m still toying around with it, and it takes a lot of getting used to, but it’s pretty fun.
Here’s one, of the junk in the neighbor’s yard, that I just took for giggles.
And here’s a photo of my lamp - the three photos to the left are separated by two inches a piece. It’s pretty cool!
My dad pointed me to a Wired.com macro photo contest. Sweet. Follow the link and give me a thumbs up if you don’t mind. Mine is obviously the blackberries with the name “Fuzz Martin” on it.
(okay… the link keeps changing, so just go to the following link and look for the title “Twin Blackberries.” It’s a pain in the ass. Boo to wired.com.)
Tonight, I built my own lightbox using a tutorial from Strobist. I have to say that I am a) impressed with how nice and easy it makes lighting stuff, and b) I wish that I would have done it a long time ago, when I first read the tutorial.
Here are some of the shots that I took tonight in the new lightbox:
I bought a new lens today thanks to the overage that I paid Uncle Sam in taxes this year. Now I just need to sell $500 worth of macro photography and I’m in the black (for this lens, at least).
It is taking a little getting used to. I thought I could get an inch away from an object and the lens would focus, but it’s searching all over the place. Maybe my contacts need cleaning on my camera body? I’m not sure. Anyway… I’ll post some photos when I figure the damn thing out.
Actually, here’s one but I’m not super satisfied with it:
In my absence, lately, I have been adding a lot more photos to my iStockphoto.com portfolio. In fact, I’ve added nearly 100 photos in recent weeks. Here are some of the images I’ve uploaded recently:
Two weeks from tomorrow, I start my final semester as an undergrad! I’m pretty excited to get this isht done ! As you can tell, I’ve been kinda laying low here in my off time. Lately, I’ve been working on my photography portfolio basically any moment that I am not at the radio station or on location. I’m trying to supplement my income with extra income from my photography portfolio. It’s not going too badly, but it could definitely be better. You get back what you put in, for the most part.
Christmas morning. My daughter slept till 7:15 (a blissful anomaly), she woke up, we opened presents, we got ready, packed up the presents, and left for my sister’s house. Along Highway 33 there was a beautiful, perfect frost on the trees. In the horizon, the Doppler radar was gorgeously lit with the frosty trees below.
I’ve been toying around with becoming an iStock illustrator to compliment my photography portfolio. Over the last few weeks I have been practicing with the pen tool, and I finally think that I am getting the hang of it. On Sunday night, I finally submitted my illustrator application. Wish me luck.
