Live from Oklahoma City

Monday, March 31st, 2008 by Claude

Oklahoma City MemorialI’m in Oklahoma City on a business trip and had the honor of being able to visit the Oklahoma City Memorial this evening. It is beautiful.

Every detail fits with the next and is worthy of its noble cause.

The things I cannot get over are how the symbolic empty chairs remind me of Arlington National Cemetary in Washington DC…

…and how some sick (F***s) humans could do such terrible things to other human, and even worse to children.

LoveI don’t know what I want to say about this…I wish there was something I could do to help make sure this never happens again, but I know that just writing about it or donating some money won’t slow down monsters like this.

I wish I were at home to hug my daughter.

The Downward Spiral: Al Qaeda is recruiting kids

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 by Claude

US Defense Department officials say that  Al Qaeda is recruiting and training boys as young as 11.

The video shown on CNN.com shows a group of over 20 young boys clad in black hoods carrying weapons from handguns to rocket propelled grenade launchers.

CNNvid1

In the video they are shown taking a grown man captive, searching a car and storming a compound/house while being prompted by the camera man. (You can see in this screen capture, the small boy pushing his gun into the neck of a grown man).

Another shot shows the kids holding weapons and holding their hands up in a #1, like some kind of demented sports team photo. The whole thing is like a summer camp of the worst kind.

CNN tells you how to slip a bomb past airport security

Monday, January 28th, 2008 by Claude

I have to give a “Wag of the Finger” to CNN for a story I saw on their Early Edition this morning and now the main post on their website, CNN.com, they tell of a method of breaching TSA Security. (From CNN.com)

Jason that’s the name CNN was asked to call him slides a simulated explosive into an elastic back support. The mock bomb is as slim as a wallet; its fuse, the size of a cigarette. He wraps the support around his torso, and the bomb fits comfortably into the small of his back.

It’s hard to tell he’s concealing anything; harder still when he dons a black T-shirt and a maroon golf shirt.

Then, with CNN’s cameras in tow, Jason heads to Tampa International Airport, where he’ll try to sneak the fake explosive past security screeners.

While I am a fan of the freedom of the press…I have to give CNN a little shot to the solar-plexus for this one.  TISK TISK!

Stop the world…I want to get off

Friday, January 25th, 2008 by Claude

Society has just gone off the deep end.  Seriously.

People need to just unplug and read a book, talk with neighbors and just get out.  What the hell is going on?!?  A 16 year old wants to hijack a plane and smash it into a Hannah Montana concert?

From CNN.com

Authorities have charged a teenage boy who said he planned to hijack a commercial jetliner in an attempt to commit suicide, an FBI spokesman told CNN late Thursday.

The 16-year-old was taken into custody by airport police without incident on Tuesday evening after flying from Los Angeles, California, to Nashville, Tennessee, on Southwest Airlines Flight 284.

The teen wanted to crash the plane into a Hannah Montana concert in Lafayette, Louisiana, two CNN television affiliates in Nashville, WSMV and WTVF, reported, citing unnamed sources. The concert is scheduled for Friday night at the Lafayette Cajundome.

Beware: Server in the Sky

Friday, January 18th, 2008 by Claude

Big Brother is WatchingWhy is it necessary for me to read news from agencies outside of the US to find out about non-pop culture/political stumping events that are happening inside the US (and outside, for that matter)?

Guardian has reported about the FBI wanting instant access to all British identity data.  Of course to fight global terrorism, but the article goes on to say:

The US-initiated programme, “Server in the Sky”, would take cooperation between the police forces way beyond the current faxing of fingerprints across the Atlantic. Allies in the “war against terror” - the US, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand - have formed a working group, the International Information Consortium, to plan their strategy.

Biometric measurements, irises or palm prints as well as fingerprints, and other personal information are likely to be exchanged across the network. One section will feature the world’s most wanted suspects. The database could hold details of millions of criminals and suspects.

The FBI is keen for the police forces of American allies to sign up to improve international security. The Home Office yesterday confirmed it was aware of Server in the Sky, as did the Metropolitan police.

Keeping WatchWith the inception of REAL ID …this will be the next step.  Secure everyone by collecting everyone’s data, why limit it to terrorists and criminals?  Who knows, you could be the next criminal or terrorist…we should get your data now, while the getting is good!
